Problems named on stage

Launch many drones at once from one moving or fixed position

Named on stage by Matt Austin (Brigade Group) at a Startup Grind Kitchener-Waterloo fireside, 27 August 2026.

What the people stuck here are trying to get done

When Canada has too few soldiers to cover its territory and drones are the force multiplier, I want to launch multiple drones from one location, moving or stationary, so I can hold the Arctic without a soldier at every point.

Who needs it solved

Drone and autonomy builders, and the Canadian forces they would sell to, who need drones as a force multiplier because Canada has too few soldiers to cover its north.

What makes it hard

Canada's northern threat is real and the multiplier is not ready. Matt says the country is not there on swarm technology and needs to get there.

“We have to really use drones as a force multiplier because we simply don't have enough soldiers to occupy the space to really look after all of Canada. So we have to use technology as our multiplier. And really, we're not there. We're not there in terms of our swarm tech. We're not there in terms of magazine launch swarm tech, and we need to get there.”

“So that's the ability to launch multiple drones from. From one location, either moving or stationary.”
